How EMREE exam dates work
EMREE is not a Prometric licensing exam and is not booked with a licensing eligibility ID. It is the entrance examination the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) runs for medical graduates applying to UAE residency programmes, and it is sat alongside your application to the matching process.
Because NIHS sets the registration and sitting arrangements, the announcement NIHS publishes for your application cycle is the only reliable source of EMREE dates. We do not list dates on this page because we cannot verify them ahead of each announcement.
How to book the EMREE exam
- 1
Confirm residency is your route
EMREE is the gateway to a UAE residency seat on programmes under DHA, DOH and MOHAP. It does not grant a licence to practise, so licensing candidates need the Prometric route instead.
- 2
Watch the NIHS announcement for your cycle
Registration windows and sitting details come from NIHS. Treat any date you see elsewhere, including on forums, as unconfirmed until it matches the NIHS notice.
- 3
Register the way NIHS specifies
Follow the registration channel and document list in the NIHS instructions for that cycle, and keep your confirmation.
- 4
Prepare against the full paper
Seats are allocated competitively and the paper rewards breadth across medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics. Build stamina with timed mocks well above the pass benchmark.
- 5
Sit the exam and complete matching
Your EMREE result feeds your residency application. Keep an eye on NIHS communication for the next step in the matching process.

When are the EMREE exam dates for 2026?
NIHS publishes the registration and sitting arrangements for each residency application cycle. We do not list dates here because they are set by NIHS, so confirm them in the official NIHS announcement for your cycle.
Is EMREE booked through Prometric like the licensing exams?
No. EMREE is the NIHS residency entrance examination, not a Prometric licensing paper, and it is not booked with a DHA, DOH or MOHAP eligibility ID. Passing it does not by itself grant a licence to practise.
